The Literati

2020-21

Rituparna Dey
Rituparna Dey

You'll probably find me in a quiet corner of the room sitting idle or daydreaming. Though in reality, I'll either be thinking of the next time I get to sleep or have pizza. The social birdie in me doesn't chirp as much and writing is both love and therapy.

Life is an eternal journey to know oneself. And to put it in words requires us to contemplate our preferences and consequences. But with it comes the pitfall of reinforcing our existing stereotypes and ends up defining the boundaries of our comfort zone. The simplest of questions could have the most complex and diverse answers, only if we did pause to ponder...

Incase you were wondering I was just kidding!

Megha Paul

A dreamer with one leg up in the clouds, reality checks    help me keep the other one on the ground. A    voracious   consumer of fiction, philosophy, music,   movies – RomComs and SciFi alike, I enjoy me-time as   much as I relish companionship. Another passion in   my life is food, and I live to eat. Always up for   discussions on life - hit me up if you are looking for a   deep-dive!

2019-20
Illiya Manna

A square peg in a round hole. I do not like tea, or even coffee for that matter but I dig cute cafés. There is no wrong or right (only in my opinion, of course) when it comes to choosing between beaches and mountains. I play with words 24x7 in my head (over thinker alert!), at times on Notepad, and sometimes on paper. I’m obsessed with music, psychological thrillers, and poetry; though, not always in that order. Oh, and I am both a dog and a cat person.

Writ Majumdar

Looking for knowledge everywhere, and solitude somewhere. With an equal fondness for both Mathematics and Literature, I like to think of myself as a paradox. I am a lover of books, poetry, mythologies, dark humour, memes, music, food and new places. Oh, and I have a love affair with the ocean

2015-16

Arun Kumar
KK loves to watch and play tennis, and travel. When he is not busy cracking cheap jokes, he finds time to listen to/play music or read a book. He believes in peace and the force!

Apoorv Ashutosh
Apoorv is not sure how to describe himself. He reads a lot, watches sitcoms (the good ones only) and loves Arsenal Football Club. His day is divided into thinking/reading random stuff about Harry Potter and wondering how he ever got into an IIM. If you dare criticise Harry Potter or Emma Watson, he will kill you.

Amrapali Debbarma
Known to be the one who prefers working backstage, Amrapali has an inclination towards words, sounds and everything abstract. Exploring music people don't listen to and procrastination are two of her favourite hobbies, besides entertaining disastrous thoughts.

2014-15

Trisha Sardar
Trisha believes that she should have been born in an era when things were much simpler. She is fond of classics and everything that has classic tagged to its name. When she is not cribbing about the demerits of the present world, she is cribbing about how all the stories should have a happy ending. She still believes that Unicorns exist.

Adarsh is a Spurs fan who likes nothing better than teleporting to Westeros, Hogwarts, Middle Earth or OASIS. When he's on Earth, he watches TV shows, reads on his Kindle and plays tennis (both the actual game and the virtual kind)

Oindrila Mondal
Oindrila is a crazy cat-lady who likes pondering existential questions while looking at cute fluffy animals. She spends her time searching for new and interesting things that can hopefully be poked with a stick. She believes that science and liberal arts are two equally important halves of the same coin. She likes independence, free thought and good conversation.  She is a lazy workaholic. She adores comedy, sarcasm and all things Terry Pratchett.

I had gladly devoted most of my time to work and  once in a while when the urge for a break became irresistible, I travelled all around the world.  Anyway, I somehow  mustered up the courage and rang the doorbell..... "The Symphonies of Silence" by Nikita Vipul

Artwork: "Silence" by Daniela Huhurez “He didn’t utter a word. He was staring infinitely into the space, listening intently while I kept talking animatedly about my mini-adventure with a Rupee Five-Hundred note that afternoon. The angles of his mouth slowly climbed up and settled beautifully into a curve. He was still staring into the space. I knew he was in love.” -Anonymous Listening is an attitude of the heart, a genuine desire to be with another which both attracts and heals. Sadly, we talk too much, listen too little… forgetting the simple fact that we have been given two ears but one mouth. “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn life around.” All because we don’t listen. We have stopped believing in the idea of ‘indulgence’... in the process of getting involved and melting into another person’s realm of existence. H

"Beneath the Apple Tree" by Prabhat Ranjan

I looked up above, as I laid Beneath the apple tree, And wondered how nice it'll be, To get those apples for free. But the apples were too high to reach, So all my hopes got lost When suddenly in my mind it came Great Newton's age old thought. That when he sat below the tree As useless as I was, Without any effort, or initiative, An apple did really fall. Newton said that he was the one Who first actually had found That earth pulls the apple towards itself And makes it fall on ground. Having faith in Mr Newton I laid there as I was The  noon  changed to night, (The sky flooded with moonlight) But the apple did not fall! And then I began to doubt If really Newton said it true Or was it for only name and fame To gain his own fortune! Just then from above did fall An apple that made me sicken! For it emitted a chokin' smell And throughout it was worm stricken! Within a flash I speculated That no book has ever mentione
