POSTCARD TO A PARENT Ft. Sadee Radhika

If someday you feel like growing different Or decide to give up on things If you feel quiet or need to speak To your mind but not your child I’ll be there As a person who doesn’t know you but there to heal you. If the next morning sun doesn’t rise And darkness rides the knight If you feel like crying Or have lost your sight I’ll be there To fix your parts and Mend your broken golden heart. If you’re unsure about the future Or maybe of your sixties If the changing seasons change you And the mirror threatens you I’ll be there With a shoulder to lean on And hands to move on. If your smile turns into worries Of my siblings and me If you’re unsure Of our failures and winnings Trust me, You’ll be there And you’ll see us grow in beauty Like you’d always dreamt it would be.

"Back Home" by an anonymous poet

Artwork: " Homeward Bound " by Loui Jover The looming clouds Hover over the wary sky, And the timid sun, Hides behind the black curtains. The scary storm Flings the strayed kite, As it helplessly Flies towards the high mountains. The pouring drops Drowns the paper-boats, And inundate The poor tiny lanes. The fading light Scares a little boy, As in the pastures, He tends the herd of cattle. When you’re afraid, And you’ve nowhere to go, You must know, There’s a place called home. A mother’s kiss— So soft and tenderly, Nurses all the scars, And heals all the pains. The father’s words, So very sincere— Says there’s a rainbow, After it rains. A long-lost friend Greets with open arms, And brings back those Sweet golden-old days. A childhood crush Meets with a blushing smile, That excites you In the same old ways. You’ve wandered so long, And gone so far; How long will you roam? It’s time you head back home. It’s time to come ...

"Beneath the Apple Tree" by Prabhat Ranjan

I looked up above, as I laid Beneath the apple tree, And wondered how nice it'll be, To get those apples for free. But the apples were too high to reach, So all my hopes got lost When suddenly in my mind it came Great Newton's age old thought. That when he sat below the tree As useless as I was, Without any effort, or initiative, An apple did really fall. Newton said that he was the one Who first actually had found That earth pulls the apple towards itself And makes it fall on ground. Having faith in Mr Newton I laid there as I was The  noon  changed to night, (The sky flooded with moonlight) But the apple did not fall! And then I began to doubt If really Newton said it true Or was it for only name and fame To gain his own fortune! Just then from above did fall An apple that made me sicken! For it emitted a chokin' smell And throughout it was worm stricken! Within a flash I speculated That no book has ever mentione...

"A Shade of Red" by Yuna

The Sun rose as red as blood; the still waters mirrored the vices of above. Upon the horizon was the shadow of an Eagle Out to play; seeking its prey down below, As the silhouettes docked in iron, clanked their swords, The earth trembled as they danced to the tune of death. Shattered were their hearts, shattered were their dreams, Hope is all that remained to those waiting to be redeemed. Red moon, red leaves, red are the flames that purge Upon the tainted ground. Scattered are the red flowers of dirge. Authored by Yuna ____________________________________________________ Yuna is the pseudonym of one of our fellow students.
